OUR STORY
Believing in God’s Word and Spirit
Elim’s founder, George Jeffreys (arguably the United Kingdom’s greatest evangelist during the 1920-30’s) spent a large portion of his time in Scotland during 1932. He came to Edinburgh to share “The Foursquare Gospel;” that Jesus Christ was the Saviour, Healer, Baptiser with the Holy Spirit and Coming King. 800 conversions were recorded, and a church was established. At first, the church met in a former cinema in Stockbridge, before moving to George IV Bridge in the heart of the city, then settling more recently at our present site at Holy Corner in Morningside.
Since 2013 Pastor Gordon Allan has served as the Senior Leader, and in 2020 we pioneered a campus church plant in Haddington, led by Pastor Mike Johngrass, and started developing a growing online church community too.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Moulding believers, influencing the world
We are one of over 550 Elim Pentecostal churches in the U.K. Elim is a movement over a century old, with roots in the Welsh revival of the early 1900s. To find out more about Elim, click here.
Whilst we value our heritage and the wider Elim movement, we recognise that we are a small part of the wider Church, and cherish the relationship we have with other local churches from a variety of denominations.
