George Jeffreys founded Elim in 1915, in Monaghan, Ireland, and since then the Movement has grown to over 550 churches in the UK and Ireland, and over 9000 worldwide. Elim has had a congregation in Edinburgh since 1932, and the pentecostal/charismatic movement is reckoned to have in the region of 500 million worldwide adherents.
Although Jeffreys was an outstanding evangelist and church planter, Elim grew rapidly thanks to a move of God characterized by miraculous healings and an explosion in the number of people becoming Christians.
Elim celebrated 100 years in 2015, and in 2015 saw Chris Cartwright become Elim’s new General Superintendent. Elims’ focus for its second century is on church planting, developing leaders, making disciples, reaching nations and transforming commnuntiies. Find out more on Elim’s website:
